Create harmony between the entrance and the living room
This young expat couple had just acquired this pretty and bright apartment in Amsterdam. They had already painted all the walls in white. There was no real identity. Each room had its own colored wall without any real harmony. Their wish was to get a modern blue living room.
By analyzing the tastes and lifestyles of the clients, I have created 2 different styles for them. The clients chose the blue and yellow project:
The modern blue living room brings cheerfulness and comfort. In addition, the clients had a yellow sofa in one of their previous accommodations and they had expressed the wish to get a yellow sofa.

The entrance
The entrance features a yellow wall (Power 4 by Bilboquet Peinture) which defines the atmosphere of the apartment from the first step inside.
This large entrance is very practical furnished with storage, a bench and natural and black colored cork boards to pin all the photos of friends.
The living room
In the living room, the light oak parquet, in good condition, goes very well with all styles of furniture, so we have kept it.
The dining area is delimited by walls in Stiffkey Blue by Farrow&Ball. The designer chairs of the customers are preserved, a round table breaks the angles of this room.
String shelves accommodate all the client’ books and turntables.
A child’s desk / secretary is transformed into a cocktail bar.
3 fabrics were offered to customers to reupholster the piano stool in a more intense color and with colonial motifs.
This Scandinavian-inspired entryway and living room strikes a good balance between the vibrancy of yellow and the calm of blue. The yellow and blue combo still works. From pastel yellow to mustard yellow, via sunny yellow, all combinations are possible with light blues, duck blues or midnight blues.
